About Us
So most of us will have heard of Scouting but what is it?
We believe in preparing young people with skills for life. Every week we give almost half a million 6-25 year olds in the UK the skills they need for school, college, university, job interviews, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: in short the skills they need for life with a load of fun.

1st Royton Scout Group actively engages and supports children and young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. We work with children and young people aged five and half to thirteen, from across the borough of Oldham, but mainly Royton, Shaw and Chadderton. We believe through our scouting programme we challenge children and young people so they learn and experience new things, develop a lifelong love of the outdoors, enrich their lives and have strong emotional and mental wellbeing - and have lots of fun and make many new friends whilst doing so!

1st Royton Scout Group was established in the early 1950's and has been running ever since. We meet at Trinity Methodist Church in the centre of Royton, Beavers and Cubs on a Monday night and Scouts on a Wednesday evening. We are also partnered with Royton Explorer Scouts, so when our young people reach the age of fourteen they can continue their Scouting journey with Explorers. Our evening meetings complement our programme of weekend activities which include Hiking, Camping, Climbing, Water Activities and many various trips and visits.
